Shine Class 2026-27

Overview

Our weekly Shine classes provide 4th - 12th grade students with a unique combination of spiritual and performing arts training. We begin each class with a godward focus and often incorporate prayer and worship. Classes build toward our annual spring show, a musical revue, where we spotlight the unique gifts of each of our students through a variety of scenes and musical numbers. Each class includes instruction in acting, dancing, and singing, mostly in the context of learning and rehearsing performance pieces.

Schedule

Classes: Wednesday afternoons, 4:00 to 5:30 pm,

September through April, at Catonsville Baptist Church.

Performances: March 19-20, 2027, location TBD.

Additional Rehearsals: Five Saturday rehearsals between

October and early February, 10 am to 4 pm.

Pre-Show Prep: Starting about six weeks before our show,

Wednesday classes will be extended by 30 minutes

(ending at 6 pm) and rehearsals will take place

every Saturday at our performance location. These

extended classes and rehearsals are mandatory.

2025-26 Recap

In March of 2026 we concluded our first year of Shine classes with a musical revue, Someone By My Side. This massive mashup included classic musical theatre songs like "Anything You Can Do" (Annie, Get Your Gun), "Consider Yourself" (Oliver!), "She's In Love" (The Little Mermaid), and "Waving Through a Window" (Dear Evan Hansen), music from Christian artists Lauren Daigle and KB, and many short scenes ranging from hilarious to touching. We were especially delighted to present 16 original scenes written by our own students and staff. Together these diverse pieces told the story of Joey, a boy in search of lasting friendship and truth to carry him through all of life's relational change and challenges. This show was the fruit of seven full months of intense effort by our amazing cast and crew. They did a tremendous job , and we are so proud of them!
